Unfortunately, no.  Because these are working fire stations and the engines may be called away at any time, we cannot host birthday parties at a Milton fire station. BUT the Milton Fire-Rescue Department does offer pre-scheduled visits to your child's birthday party -- in other words, firefighters may come to you -- for up to two hours. The visit will include a meet and greet with the firefighters, a tour of the fire engine, and a short safety message. -- 

Note: This service is available to Milton residents only. The on-duty units who pay the visits will make every effort to go to and remain for the duration of the scheduled event. However, they may not be able to as their first priority remains responding to calls in the community.

Contact Fulton County Water.  They may permit use of the water on a limited basis and generally require the use to be metered.

Members of the Milton Fire-Rescue Department do conduct annual business inspections through the Fire Marshal’s Office in accordance with state fire safety regulations. The Department also conducts annual "pre-plans," in which your local engine company comes to visit your business. 

Milton Fire Department representatives will visit your business at least twice per calendar year.  During the course of the year, they will conduct:

• Annual business safety inspections; and

• Pre-incident planning.

While they serve different purposes, both these activities are coordinated by the Fire Marshal’s Office and mandated by both codes and insurance standards. (Also, the Fire Marshal’s Office receives regular calls from insurance companies on business code compliance and inspections.)

The Fulton County Water Department is primarily responsible for the water distribution an Hydrant system in Fulton County.

However, the Milton Fire-Rescue takes an active approach in ensuring the hydrant system provides a top-quality water supply for all of our fire calls.  As such, any hydrants needing repair are serviced in a timely manner. For more, visit the Fire Hydrant Maintenance page.

Milton Fire Rescue strives to be a “Heart Ready City” and offers community CPR — otherwise known as “Bystander CPR”—on a regular basis. These classes prepare community members to assist in the case of a sudden cardiac arrest. 

Unfortunately, Milton Fire Rescue does not offer CPR certification programs for those who are required to maintain such licenses for their employment.

• If costs not paid to the City for prior Open Records Requests, the City may require prepayment for all new requests, regardless of the amount required, until the previous charges are paid [§50-18-71 (d)].

Remember that a fire may leave carcinogens and other dangerous chemicals or may weaken the structure causing a collapse risk. IF there is significant damage, always check with the fire department before going back to the scene.

Fighting a fire is often a very complex operation which require several tasks to be accomplished simultaneously. Seconds count when your house or business is on fire. Gas and electricity need to be cut off, a hydrant needs to be hooked up to, primary and secondary hoselines need to be deployed, neighboring buildings need to be protected, and a ladder may need to be set up. Additionally, rescues and evacuations as well as any medical issues need to be handled.  And someone needs to coordinate all of this while we make sure we are doing our job as safely as possible.

Studies have shown that accomplishing all of these tasks can require between 15 to 17 firefighters on a standard, 2,000 square foot single family home. This number could increase if the building is larger, if the weather is very hot or very cold (when the firefighters cannot work as long in their heavy gear, or ice needs to be dealt with). So, if there is a fire, 3 engines, 1 truck, a rescue, a battalion chief, and an ambulance will generally respond in the first alarm.

Ambulance Service is provided by a private contractor administered at the County level. These units are often spread throughout North Fulton.

A Milton fire engine or rescue can usually get on scene much quicker than one of the ambulances. When someone is having a medical emergency, seconds count. Milton's engines are equipped to provide Advanced Life Support and are staffed with at least one Paramedic and several Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT). So, Milton responds to medical calls in their fire engines to provide the quickest and best possible service to our citizens and visitors.

In addition to mandated inspections by the Fire Marshal’s Office, code (and common sense) requires local engine crews to visit all commercial properties on a regular basis.

Milton Fire-Rescue conducts these “Pre-Incident Plans” annually, rotating the visits among the various shifts and crews.

The purpose behind the Business Preplan is so that our firefighters are familiar with their territory, what business and hazards exist, and where various utility shut offs are.  They will also use the opportunity to meet members of the business community and to discuss among themselves how they would respond to a fire at your business.

In an effort to keep our residents safe from fire and promote community safety, the Milton Fire-Rescue Department can conduct a free courtesy home safety evaluation. This service is offered to Milton residents and can be scheduled by telephone or e-mail.

During your home's fire safety evaluation, members of the Milton Fire-Rescue Department will discuss various safety-related topics, such as:

• Fire escape planning and exit drills in the home (E.D.I.T.H.)
• Smoke detectors and their maintenance
• Electrical safety
• Proper storage/use of chemicals, combustibles and flammables
• General home safety
• Severe weather preparednes
