full beer mug Milton's Finance Department issues alcohol beverage licenses and collects monthly excise taxes on alcoholic beverages containing distilled spirits as well as for wholesalers and brewpubs. The Milton Police Department issues and renews permits for servers pouring permits, special event alcohol licenses and public facility event alcohol licenses.

Those wishing to obtain a new or renewed retail alcohol beverage license from the City of Milton and the State of Georgia should apply through the State online portal at https://alp.dor.ga.gov/_/. Pouring Permits

For those restaurants, bars, or other establishments with on-premise consumption, all individuals who pour or serve alcoholic beverages must obtain an employee pouring permit. This permit must be obtained within 30 days of employment in order to legally dispense, sell, serve or mix alcoholic beverages. Pouring permits are valid for two years.

The application process includes filing an application with the associated fee, a background check release and fingerprint verification, and issuance of a photo id card for qualified applicants. The permit must be in the employee's possession when working at the establishment.

Special Events Alcohol License

Special Event Alcohol Licenses are temporary licenses that are issued on a per event basis.

The application process includes filing an application with the associated fee, a background check release and fingerprint verification, and issuance of a photo id card for qualified applicants. The license must be in the event coordinator’s possession during the event.

Please note any employee or volunteer of a non-profit Special Event Alcohol License, working the special event in any position dispensing, selling, serving, taking orders or mixing alcoholic beverages shall not be required to obtain an alcohol seller/server permit for the special event, provided that no person under 18 years of age may dispense, serve, or take orders for alcoholic beverages.
