Home MenuCommunity Activities
Fostering community and forging meaningful connections are critical to the Milton Parks and Recreation Department’s mission. To that end, the City has created, organized, and facilitated community activities so that people – especially adults – can come together and bond over shared interests as well as a desire to have fun, worthwhile experiences.
Below you’ll find community activities in that vein. This webpage will be updated twice a year to reflect new and updated offerings. If you have questions about what’s below or have ideas for a new experience along these lines, please contact Parks and Recreation Specialist Micaela Burke at Micaela.Burke@miltonga.gov.
Parents of young children often look for people to meet and places to go that are safe, enjoyable and worthwhile for young and old. These playgroups at City facilities can ideally plant the seeds for special friendships for children and parents alike.
TODDLER TUESDAYS
This open play time will feature an array of toys for imaginative play and socialization for toddlers. (Parents, of course, can socialize as well.) This free, once-a-month, registration-free program is geared towards children aged 1-4, though children of all ages are welcome.
Dates: March 19, April 9, and May 21, 2024. After a summer break, these monthly playdates will resume on August 13, 2024.
Times: Between 9 and 11 a.m., then from 3 to 5 p.m., on the days noted above.
Location: Community Center at Milton City Park and Preserve (1785 Dinsmore Road)
On the third Wednesday of each month, join fellow booklovers as they recall their impressions and thoughts on the monthly book-of-the-month pick. Each evening will start with a potluck dinner – so bring what you can to share – that will lead to a discussion of that month’s book.
These get-togethers will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Below are dates paired with the corresponding book to discuss:
- MARCH 20 -- My Murder by Katie Williams
- APRIL 17 -- Everything/Nothing/Someone by Alice Carriere
- MAY 15 -- Pineapple Street by Jenny Jackson
- JUNE 19 -- Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus
Location: Community Center at Milton City Park and Preserve (1785 Dinsmore Road)
How to register: There’s no cost, but people are asked to sign-up in advance by going to www.miltonga.gov/Registration and clicking on the Book Club tab
