Portrait of Carol CookerlyCarol Cookerly, a long-time resident of Milton and former chairwoman of the Milton Equestrian Committee, was elected during the November 2018 general election to fulfill the term of former Councilman Burt Hewitt. She was subsequently elected to a full four-year term in 2019, then again in 2023.

Cookerly is an experienced communications and marketing professional with more than 24 years of experience. She is the president and founder of Cookerly Public Relations and Marketing Strategies.

A graduate of Duke University with a degree in economics, Cookerly spent five years as a TV reporter before leaving for a career in public relations in New York. After several years, she relocated to Atlanta where she would eventually make Milton her home.

In addition to managing a thriving public relations agency, Cookerly is a dedicated community volunteer, serving 21 years on the YMCA of Metro Atlanta where she led multiple annual giving campaigns. She also supports the Murphy-Harpst Children's Center, a residential treatment facility serving the mental, physical and spiritual needs of some of Georgia's most abused and neglected children and teens.

Cookerly, her husband, and their three Labs love living on their Milton farmette. She is an avid equestrian, riding most her life, and currently has three horses and a pony. Cookerly enjoys the outdoors, fly fishing, shooting sporting clays or pheasants, and spending time with her horses -- jumping , riding trails, or just feeding them treats and listening to them munch on hay.
