Doug Hene brought extensive local knowledge, a financial background, and a community-focused philosophy to the City Council when he joined in January 2024.

Hene graduated from Milton High School in 1995, a decade before that school’s new building opened in Crabapple and 11 years before the City of Milton’s founding. He attended the University of Georgia, where he played linebacker for the Dawgs and studied to earn a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. More importantly, Athens is where Doug met the love of his life, Lindsey.

Later, he obtained a Masters in Business Administration from Georgia State University – another part of an education that has served him well in finance-related jobs.

Hene belonged to the City’s Design Review Board (where he helped shepherd the community-shaped creation of the District at Mayfield) until his election to City Council. He’s involved in Stonecreek Church, King’s Ridge Christian School, YoungLife and civic organizations like Second Helpings Atlanta, a nonfit dedicated to reducing hunger and food waste in the metro area.

Doug and Lindsey, who have been married for more than two decades, are the proud parents of two sons. They live on Bethany Way with their boys and two boxers, Lucy and Lolly.
