Hydrant Maintenance_cropThe Milton Fire-Rescue Department takes an active approach in ensuring the city's hydrants provide a top-quality water supply for all our fire calls.

As such, any hydrants needing repair are serviced in a timely manner.

The Department services hydrants annually -- including flushing, lubing, painting (as needed) and addressing any access issues. If a City hydrant is found to be out of service or needs repair, the Department notifies the Fulton County Water Authority about the problem. The FCWA will repair or replace the hydrant, informing us when it is working again. In the case of a private hydrant, the property owner or neighborhood HOA will be notified about the problem. The Department will follow up with the hydrant owner or HOA to ensure proper fire coverage of their area. In these cases, responsibility rests on homeowners and/or the HOA to make sure the hydrant issue is addressed.

Whenever a hydrant is out of service (O.O.S.), an O.O.S. tag is placed on it so Milton fire personnel know it can't be used. The Fire-Rescue Department also notifies firefighters about all out-of-service hydrants in the city.

The Fire Marshal's office coordinates fire hydrants' annual inspection for the City of Milton. You can contact the Fire Marshal via email at fire.marshal@miltonga.gov or call 678-242-2546 with any questions regarding the fire hydrant program.
