The part of Milton's City Code related to waste management (which you can read HERE), states clearly: "All companies providing residential service or service to residential multi-family units must provide a recycling program to all customers."

This remains the City's expectation. There are also times when people want something beyond once-a-week curbside recycling. With this in mind, Milton residents can recycle at the following locations within driving distance:

There was a time in early 2022 when pandemic-related staff shortages impacted recycling services. You can read the City's news release about that HERE. In March 2022, Waste Management sent out a letter to its customers about recycling that can be viewed by clicking HERE.

For additional information, contact Emily Groth at 678-242-2543 or email emily.groth@miltonga.gov.

Recycling_symbolThe City of Milton partners with contractors who provide trash and recycling service. To this point, all the trash haulers certified in the City of Milton are required by ordinance to offer residents a curbside recycling program.

Items that can be recycled (Municode Section 46-66 (g)):

  • Steel and tin cans
  • Aluminum cans, foil, pie pans, plastic items (#1, #2, and #3)
  • Cardboard, cereal boxes and any non-waxed paper containers
  • Brown paper grocery bags
  • Newspapers
  • Magazines
  • Telephone books
  • Junk mail
  • Office papers
  • School papers

Glass can now be recycled at Bell Memorial Park in the large, yellow metal bin in the overflow gravel parking lot, thanks to a partnership with Strategic Materials.

Glass can be deposited anytime the park is open (from sunrise to about 10:30 p.m. nightly).  There's no need to peel off labels, nor to deep clean each bottle or jar.

City staff work with residents and partner organizations on recycling events, public education and more. To get communications on this topic sent to you, please sign up for the City of Milton's email list.
