The City of Milton is vibrant and growing, with leadership focused on thoughtful, strategic development that aims to reflect and protect Milton's unique characteristics.

Milton offers many of the benefits of a big city but maintains the convenience and community feel of a small city with Milton located just 26 miles from downtown Atlanta. The city has been recognized as the one of the safest cities in Georgia with an exceptionally low crime rate and has been recognized nationally for its high quality of life.

Residents and visitors alike appreciate the region's scenic beauty, parks, trails, and its thriving and hospitable business community.

Since 2006, Milton has become one of the fastest-growing cities in Georgia with a population of just over 40,000 according to the most recent 2020 Census data.

Milton is almost exclusively residential with 60% zoned residential and 30% agricultural. Less than 2% of land in Milton is zoned for commercial development across the three commercial nodes: Deerfield, Crabapple, and Birmingham Crossroads.

Milton places a high value on the relationships with business owners and developers to nurture a climate for economic success in the city.

The goal is to ease the barriers for entry, foster responsible and sustainable growth of the Milton business community, and create opportunities that reflect the core values of the city.
