Home MenuAdopt-a-Trail
The City of Milton has an Adopt-a-Trail program that lets groups, businesses, and families “adopt” trails within the City parks system. "Adoption" is an agreement to regularly inspect and clean up their assigned trails (getting some sort of recognition for doing so).
Like Adopt-a-Road, this program gives citizens the opportunity to make a positive impact in our community -- in this case, by doing what they can to ensure the beauty, safety, and specialness of one of Milton's many picturesque trails.
For an overview of Milton's Adopt-a-Trail program, check out this presentation. And for maps where available of spaces, click below on the park name associated with a given trail.
Milton's Adoptable Trails
Below is a list of trails within the Milton Parks and Recreation system that can be adopted, their length, as well as if they've been adopted -- and, if so, by whom. Trails that can still be adopted are marked in green.
Apply to Adopt-a-Trail
Are you, your organization, your family, or your business interested in "adopting" a Milton trail? If so, please review this agreement and then fill out and submit the application below. Every participant must also complete the volunteer waiver found HERE.
After you adopt...
The City asks those who adopt a trail to:
- Schedule a pick-up of City-provided supplies, such as bags and gloves, at least 48 hours in advance by emailing parksandrec@miltonga.gov.
- Pick-up these supplies at Milton City Hall (2006 Heritage Walk in Milton).
- In addition to clearing debris, look for things that may require further inspection by City staff such as dead or decaying trees, downed limbs, obstructions on a trail, excessive weeds, damaged fencing, issues with benches and bridges, ruts and erosions, missing or damaged trail markers and signs, etc.
- Return the City-provided supplies within five days after you work on the trail.
- Complete and submit the "Inspection Report," which you can access by clicking HERE.
If you have any questions or comments, be they specific to your trail or generally about the program, email parksandrec@miltonga.gov or call 678-242-2575.
