The Milton Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division (CID) includes Criminal Investigations and Information Services. Captain Charles Barstow oversees the division's day-to-day operations. CID is responsible for investigating assaults, robberies, fraud and forgery incidents, drug enforcement, property crimes, processing of crime scenes and the retrieval of physical evidence.

Captain Charles Barstow
Charles Barstow began his career with the Milton Police Department in 2007 as patrol officer and was promoted to sergeant in 2008. During his tenure with the agency, he has served as Patrol Sergeant, Criminal Investigations Sergeant, Criminal Investigations Lieutenant, and Captain of both the Uniform Patrol Division and Support Services Divisions.
Barstow began his law enforcement career in 1994 as a uniformed patrol officer with the DeKalb County Police Department. While in uniform patrol, he attained the rank of Master Police Officer; he later served with their Criminal Investigations Division and also served as a training instructor for the agency.
Barstow holds a Bachelor of Arts in Religion from Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia. In 2014, he obtained his police management certification from Columbus State University and his supervisory and management certifications through the Peace Officers Standards and Training Council. In 2018, he completed the FBI Leadership Trilogy and in 2019, Barstow graduated from the Northwestern School of Police Staff and Command.
