Have you ever wondered what it takes to be a police officer in Milton? How do they keep our roads as safe as can be? What’s involved in investigating crimes? What equipment do they have? And generally, how do they serve our community daily?
If so, you can get answers to those questions and more by joining the Milton Police Department’s Citizens Police Academy.
Sign-up for the next iteration of this engaging, interactive seven-week program by filling out THIS FORM and either dropping it off during normal weekday business hours at Police Headquarters at 13690 Highway 9 or emailing it to Community Outreach Officer Rebecca Tidwell at rebecca.tidwell@miltonga.gov. Milton Police offer the Citizens Police Academy once every year beginning in February.
When there’s an Academy in session, participants will meet Thursdays from 6-8 p.m. generally at Milton Municipal Court in the same Public Safety Complex building as Police Headquarters. They’ll explore topics such as:
- “Use of Force” policy, training, and tactics
- Firearms (to be held at a local shooting range)
- 911 Dispatch
- Crime Analysis
- Traffic/transportation, including DUIs
- Criminal investigations
- SWAT demonstration
Registration and a background check are required to attend. If you have any questions, email rebecca.tidwell@miltonga.gov.
