Did you know that motor vehicle crashes are the number one cause of death for Americans ages 15 to 24? Alive at 25 is a defensive driving course developed by the National Safety Council in an effort to address this pressing issue.

Registration is required for this course, something you can do by CLICKING HERE (http://www.miltonfirstresponders.org/alive-at-25.html). Scroll down on that page, enter the participant's name, then press "Buy Now."

This highly interactive four-hour program teaches young drivers how to take control of situations by taking responsibility for their own driving behavior. Rather than being a technical, hands-on driver training course, this program addresses driver’s attitude, knowledge and behavior. It complements driver’s education and training, not a replacement for these courses.

This course is designed for those aged 15-24; parents or guardians are not required to attend.

Curriculum

The Alive at 25 curriculum includes modules that cover topics such as state laws, statistics, risks and responsibilities of driving, distracted driving and following too closely. There's also a discussion about safe driving practices. The program is a collaboration with the National Safety Council Southeastern Chapter, Milton First Responders Foundation and Milton Police Department.

Certificates

Those who successfully complete the course and pass a test at the end of the four-hour program receive a certificate of completion.

Cost

The Alive at 25 program is available at a cost of $50 per student. Payment, which is handled through the Milton First Responders Foundation, is required to register for the course. All proceeds benefit the Foundation, which supports members of Milton's police and fire departments as well as their families.
