In order to register, you must:

Be a citizen of the United States
Be a legal resident of Georgia (and, to vote in Milton's municipal election, a legal resident of Milton)
Be at least 17½ years of age (and at least 18 on Election Day in order to vote)
Not be serving a sentence for a conviction of a felony involving moral turpitude
Have not been found mentally incompetent by a judge

Voter registration is handled through the State of Georgia in one of two ways.

You can either download and mail THIS FORM to Secretary of State, State of Georgia, PO Box 105325, Atlanta, GA30348-9562.
Register to vote online through THIS STATE OF GEORGIA WEBPAGE. (Note: A driver’s license or identification card issued by the Georgia Department of Driver Services is required.)

A person must be registered at least 30 days before an election to vote in that election.

How can I confirm that I’m officially registered to vote?

You can do so through the Georgia Secretary of State’s “My Voter” webpage (https://mvp.sos.ga.gov/).

Enter the first letter of your (legal) first name, your last name, your county (for those in Milton, that is Fulton County), and your date of birth – then click “Submit.” If you are registered, your information will show up indicating a Voter Registration Number.
If I changed my legal name or address, how should I update my voter registration?

Register to vote again with your new information.

You can do so online at https://mvp.sos.ga.gov/s/voter-registration. Or you can consult the City’s voter registration page at https://www.miltonga.gov/government/elections/registering-to-vote/ for other options.

Any update must take place at least 30 days before an election.
If I voted in the most recent election, will I be registered and good-to-go for this one?

Yes, you should be.

You do not need to re-register before every election. Still, it’s always a good idea to confirm your status before the registration deadline for participation in a particular election closes; you can do so on the Georgia Secretary of State’s “My Voter” webpage (https://mvp.sos.ga.gov/).
