Residential permits are generally required for the following scopes of work:

1. New single-family residences/townhomes
2. Additions and renovations (bedrooms, bathrooms, decks, garages, kitchens, structural work, windows, etc.)
3. Basement, attic, bonus-room finishes
4. Storage, sheds, detached accessory structures
5. Moving or adding plumbing service or appliances
6. Moving or adding electrical wire or services
7. Adding or replacing HVAC mechanical equipment

Permits are not generally required for:

1. Wallpapering, painting (interior and most exterior surface finishes)
2. Floor coverings
3. Cabinets, counter tops
4. General maintenance and maintenance of appliances

Once the permit has been accepted for review, approval or revision comments are issued (for all permit types) within 10 business days.
