Monthly Feature
Thanks to Milton residents, the City has compiled a long list of living and fallen veterans. Your help is needed to grow this list annually by registering your veteran with us.
During Memorial Day and Veteran's Day each year, the nonprofit Milton Veterans Memorial Markets, LLC, strategically places markers throughout the city in honor of our fallen veterans. Any deceased veteran of a Milton family is eligible to be honored with a complimentary marker. Information on living veterans will be used for recognition purposes only. Swim Team
It's not too late to register for the 2019 swim season with the Milton Mustang Swim Team! To register, or for more information,visit their website.
Milton will host three meets this year - May 30, June 20 and July 25. All meets start at 5:30 p.m., and are held at the Milton pool.Come cheer on our Mustangs!

Halftime Sports Basketball Camp
Basketball camp is weekly and open to ages 5-16, with a different focus each week. Location: Hopewell Middle School. ClickHERE.

Lady Eagles Camp of Champions
The Milton Girls' Lacrosse program is the most successful in the state, winning anunprecedented12th state championship in 2018. This year's girls lacrosse camp will be held at Bell Memorial Park and is open to girls 1st though 8th grade (grade as of Fall 2019). There will be two sessions:June 4-6 and July 9-11. ClickHERE.

Bach to Rock Music Program
We have a new music lessons partnership with Bach to Rock (B2R) exclusively for Milton residents!B2R believes that learning to play music should be fun and that students learn best when they play the music they love. Our partnership provides Milton residents with a 20% discount on classes held at their12315 Crabapple Road Suite #118facility.

Tennis Lessons
The Milton Tennis Center is offering beginner/intermediate tennis lessons for ages 6-13, Mondays at 5:15 p.m. and Thursdays at 5 p.m.,beginning April 8.Registration opens Monday, March 18. Toregister, or for more information, visitthe Milton Tennis Center website.

Help celebrate Earth Day in Milton, Saturday, April 20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.! Come out to City Hall Plaza to join in the fun -- kids can build a Home Depot bird feeder and make other fun crafts from recycled materials. Zoologist Jim Nark will be on hand with his array of animals, learn about certifying your backyard as a National Wildlife Federation wildlife habitat... and more!

Rock for Rescues

Memorial Day Ceremony
Please join us as we proudly salute our veterans in a very special Memorial Day ceremony at Freedom Park (13200 Deerfield Parkway), Monday, May 25 at 10 a.m. The ceremony will feature a military guest speaker, a presentation of the colors by the Milton Public Safety Honor Guard, local musicians, and a roll call of Milton's fallen veterans.

New Ordinance, Land Conservation & GIS

Latest Greenspace Acquisition
On April 17, the City closed on its latest greenspace acquisition, a 21.1-acre property located at the southwest corner of Birmingham Road and Freemanville Road. This property is comprised of approximately 9 acres of pasture, 7 acres of rangeland, and 5 acres of woodland, and 400 feet of stream corridor. The purchase price of $1.4 million was paid out of greenspace funds.
To date, more than 250 acres have been purchased and conserved as part of the City's greenspace bond initiative.

FINANCE
CAFR, PAFR

The Finance Department has produced the City's first-everPopular Annual Financial Report (PAFR).A PAFR is a document intended to convey the financial results of the City's operations to community stakeholders who may not have a background in public finance. Its content comes from the City'sComprehensive Annual Financial Report, but uses graphics and other visuals to augment the financial message and strengthen readability.
The City's complete financial and budget story are uniquely told through its annual Budget Book (how we allocate resources), Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (how we managed resources), and the Popular Annual Financial Report (how resources spent benefit our citizens).
PUBLIC WORKS
Annual Paving, Gravel Road Maintenance, New Roundabout
Annual paving work has begun and we have a variety of treatment options being utilized including sealing, patching, mill and overlay, and full-depth reconstruction. Look for more details in the specific paving update press release.
Gravel Road Maintenance
Quarterly gravel road maintenance is underway. We are using a new Milton specific gravel mix with more rock and less fines to address weather impacts to the surface.
New Roundabout
The City's contractor, CMES, Inc., recently shifted the intersection of Freemanville Road and Providence Road into a temporary roundabout operation to allow for the remaining stages to be completed before settling in theultimate roundabout alignment. Anticipated project completion is summer 2019.
FIRE DEPARTMENT
Burn Ban, OtherNews
Burn Ban
The state-wide burn ban goes into effect May 1- September 30.The ban, which is enacted because of dry conditions and environmental health regulations, is issued by the state Environmental Protection Division and covers Milton, Fulton County, and a number of other surrounding counties.
Other News
All personnel successfully completed their annual physical assessments, which included blood work, stress test, physical abilities testing and a physical by a physician.
Milton's newest firefighter, Sidney Davis, joined the Milton Fire-Rescue Department on March 4. He joins us from the Valdosta Fire Department.
After four collection days for the MDA Boot Drive, Milton residents and visitors have donated more than $62,000! Thank you for your generosity! There are two more collection dates scheduled (4/26, 5/10).
Personnel recently completed both live fire training and the Public Safety Driving Simulator Training, provided by Georgia Municipal Association. Training promotes safety and prepares us for emergencies.

Biannual business survey going out
We're always working to ensure that Milton business owners have what they need to be successful because their success helps minimize the City's reliance upon property taxes for city services and operations. One of the ways the department engages with the business community is through Milton's biannual business survey. The next survey is scheduled to go out this week.
