Milton’s Board of Zoning Appeals on Tuesday will consider a variance request related to a pool cabana before looking forward to the coming year.
Anyone is welcome to attend in-person the November 19 meeting, which begins at 6 p.m. in City Hall’s Council Chambers (2006 Heritage Walk). Or they can watch the proceedings online at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5JhtpFURBtw.
Also known as BZA, the City’s Board of Zoning Appeals is a quasi-judicial body that considers appeals to City decisions related to zoning ordinances, stream buffers, and sign permits as well as requests for variances from the City Code. Guided by City Code (including zoning standards), this committee’s decisions can be appealed to Fulton County Superior Court.
Members will take up a limited agenda on Tuesday that features a primary variance request by the owner of 13210 Owens Way in the Six Hills neighborhood.
The applicant wants a variance to reduce the 25-foot minimum side yard setback requirement to 16.5 feet (from the north property line) to allow for an accessory structure – namely an open-air pool cabana that was built by the previous owner of the same property. The Design Review Board offered up a courtesy review on this matter earlier this month.
The only remaining agenda item is for the board to review, and potentially suggest revisions for, for BZA’s 2025 meeting schedule.
Before then, this committee is set to convene for the last time this year on December 17.
