Milton’s Planning Commission will meet Wednesday to review its bylaws and recent progress related to the City’s 2040 Comprehensive Plan.
The agenda consists of several important, if not exactly groundbreaking items, that this committee will consider when it convenes at 6 p.m. on November 29 in City Hall’s Council Chambers. Citizens can attend in person or watch online at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JrXtt6XfrPo.
The seven-member Planning Commission evaluates and recommends changes to zoning ordinances, subdivision regulations, zoning maps and overall planning process. The advisory board also weighs in on variance requests and is part of the City’s public hearing process, meaning other committees also discuss and share views on some topics that it considers.
After voting on the “minutes” (or official written record) from its most recent meeting in October, the Commission will have its quarterly tree ordinance waiver update. The one property involved in that is at 580 Hickory Flat Road, which is west of Fire Station 43 and Birmingham Park near the Cherokee County line.
The next agenda item is an update of the City’s progress in implementing aspects of Milton’s 2040 Comprehensive Plan. You can learn more about that critical guiding document, as well as the process involved in creating it, at www.miltonga.gov/ComprehensivePlan.
Every month, City staff share developments related to this Plan – especially what’s happened regarding short-term work programs detailed in this document. They’ll have another such opportunity Wednesday, with Planning Commission members also able to share their thoughts.
The last item on the agenda is a review of the Planning Commission’s bylaws.
This committee’s final meeting of 2023 is scheduled to take place on December 20.
