The Uniform Patrol Division (UPD) is the largest division of the Milton Police Department, commanded by Capt. Shawn McCarty. UPD consists of two lieutenants, eight sergeants, 20 patrol officers, three traffic officers (including a sergeant), and four non-sworn Public Safety Ambassadors, one of which is a school crossing guard.

Officers can be one of two shifts – day watch and morning watch – each of which is divided into two squads. Those assigned to these watches work 12 hours at a time, responding to all calls for service.

In addition, UPD officers conduct proactive patrols around Milton, respond to community complaints, and regularly have positive engagements with citizens all year-round and all around Milton.

UPD responds to approximately 7,500 calls for service each year.
