Public Kickoff for Deerfield Implementation Plan

The City invites all who care about Deerfield, Highway 9, and surrounding areas to a Public Kickoff later this month – all part of an initiative to ensure this part of eastern Milton is an inviting, thriving, vibrant, unique destination for years to come.

This is an important milestone in the process to create a Deerfield Implementation Plan, which will be a community-driven guide to this area’s look, feel, and future. For the purposes of this effort, Deerfield consists of Milton segments of State Route 9, Windward Parkway, Deerfield Parkway, Morris Road, and other places in that vicinity that are covered by the Deerfield form-based code.

A map showing that area, questions-and-answers to pertinent questions, and more can be found on a new webpage: www.miltonga.gov/Deerfield. At the bottom of that page is a form where people can submit their questions and share their thoughts on Deerfield’s future.

They’ll also be able to do so at the Public Kickoff, which will take place at 3 p.m. on Sunday, August 25, at Milton Municipal Court (13690 Highway 9, Building B – also home to the Milton Police). The purpose of this event is to be informative and engaging.

There will be a brief presentation near the program’s start. Mostly, though, this is an opportunity for people to view maps, renderings, and other displays related to this area, as well as to talk to – and share their thoughts with – members of the Deerfield Implementation Plan project team.

Other community events will follow, as will presentations and collecting feedback at City meetings that are also open to the public. The City’s project team will also conduct targeted outreach with different types of stakeholders ranging from HOA leaders to bicyclists to business owners.

Those wishing to keep up-to-date on Deerfield-related developments can regularly check the aforementioned webpage, follow the City’s Facebook page, sign-up for City emails (www.miltonga.gov/Emails), or subscribe for Deerfield-specific text notifications by first going to www.miltonga.gov/Notifications.
