The City Clerk is the City of Milton's official record-keeper, among other important duties. They are appointed by the Mayor and City Council members.

Responsibilities of the City Clerk’s Office include:

  • Recording and maintaining the City Council's official actions in "minutes"
  • Coordinating and distributing meeting agendas
  • Maintaining contracts, ordinances, resolutions, proclamations and agreements
  • Coordinating the records management and retention program for the City

The City Clerk oversees the adoption and publishing of the Code of Ordinances and facilitates the City of Milton's Municipal Elections, working closely with the Fulton County Registration & Elections Office.

If you have any questions or suggestions on how we can better assist you, please contact City Clerk Tammy Lowit at tammy.lowit@miltonga.gov or 678-242-2492.

Midweek Summer Kickoff at Milton City Park and Preserve

The Milton Parks and Recreation Department will host an “open house” and a whole lot more from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Milton City Park and Preserve (1785 Dinsmore Road).

This all-day event, which we’re calling our Summer Kickoff, is timed for when all Fulton County Schools students are off for a “virtual day.”  Still, it’s really for kids of all ages, along with their lucky parents.

All day long people can snack on complimentary popcorn and cotton candy. A member of our team will also lead guided tours of Milton City Park and Preserve, specifically the Community Center and City Pool, as well as answer questions about recreational programs based there and facility rental opportunities for parties or gatherings. People also are welcome to check out the Tennis Center or explore the 137-acre property’s nature trail loop throughout the day.

In addition, here’s what else you can look forward to – and when:

  • 9 to 11 a.m. – “Toddler-and-then-some Tuesday” with toys set out for littles and STEM-oriented activities aimed at older children.
  • 9 to 11 a.m. – Ranger Jen, a.k.a. Outdoor Recreation Supervisor Jen Young, will lead nature-themed activities – including some perfect for want-to-be fishermen – designed for those in 2nd through 6th grade who might love to be part of Milton’s Junior Ranger program. (You can learn more about this program at www.miltonga.gov/JuniorRanger.)
  • 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. – An inflatable bouncy house that children can jump around to their hearts content
  • 1 to 3 p.m. – A free “free swim” for all comers at the City Pool. (Yes, the official start of the 2024 season isn’t until that coming Saturday, but we’re giving families a sneak preview.) Lifeguards will be on duty.
  • 3 to 5 p.m. – This is “Toddler-and-then-some Tuesday” part II, with toys once again set up for the pre-school crowd and STEM activities geared toward older kids. Little Breaks (www.thelittlebreaks.com) will provide materials for a nature-friendly playdough activity.

There’s no cost for any of these activities, nor do you need to pre-register. They should give people a taste of the growing number of opportunities offered through Milton’s Parks and Recreation Department, not to mention one of its most special properties. If you have questions about the May 21st Summer Kickoff or the facilities or recreational programs, email them to the department at parksandrec@miltonga.gov.
