Deputy Fire Marshal Andrew Kennedy will lead a Barn Fire Prevention Safety Seminar from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 2. This will take place at one of Milton’s picturesque horse farms – by a barn, naturally – at 1950 Bethany Way.
Anyone can attend this free educational event (which will include light
snacks and refreshments), though they must RSVP first. To do so, please call Lori DePucci – a local realtor and the event’s sponsor – at 678-772-4373 or email her at lori.depucci@harrynorman.com.
Kennedy will touch on several topics including:
- What commonly causes barn fires and how to prevent them
- How animals such as horses behave in crises
- Developing safety plan should you barn catch fire
- The value of Community Connect, a Milton Fire-Rescue tool where you can let firefighters’ know critical details that can save time, property, and lives (for details, go to www.miltonga.gov/CommunityConnect)
This educational offering compliments the Barn Safety and Evaluation Program launched last year in conjunction with the Milton Equestrian Committee. People can set up an evaluation of their barn by emailing fire.marshal@miltonga.gov. To learn more about this program, check out
