Bicycling and Safer Streets Forum

Roads aren’t just for cars and trucks. Bicyclists and pedestrians use them, too. Yet not everyone is, or feels, as safe as they could be at all times – especially when a combination of bikes, vehicles, and walkers occupies the same stretch of pavement.

With that in mind, Georgia Bikes will offer a free bicycle and pedestrian safety presentation in Milton from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. It will take place at Community Place, the small building next City Hall (2006 Heritage Walk), having been brought to you by the Milton Police Department in partnership with Bike Alpharetta.

Specially trained police officers will share what they know about protecting vulnerable road users, including what traffic code sections are most pertinent to bicyclists and pedestrians. You’ll also get to dive into best practices for them as well as drivers to keep our roadways safe. The latest bicycling trends, crash data, and different strategies to make things better will be discussed as well.

While there’s no cost for this program, we are encouraging people to sign up in advance to help with planning. You can do so at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/milton-road-safety-workshop-tickets-801736414197. Anyone with an interest and experience on a road can join. And if you have questions, contact Tiffanie Miller at tiffanie@georgiabikes.org.
